What Is Thorotread?
THOROTREAD® is an exercise machine that allows the user to perform an exercise called “Resistance Retro Walking™”, which is simply the motion of dragging or pulling something backwards.
Athletes in a wide variety of sports manually replicate this exercise to improve their overall strength, stamina and agility. They tie a couple of ropes to a small metal sled, load it with weight plates and pull it backwards on an athletic field or parking lot. The drawbacks to this method are pretty obvious. You run out of room pretty quickly, you can’t change the weight or elevation while you’re going, and weather is frequently an issue.
Most people don’t pull things backwards very often but clinical research has recently proven that maybe you should.
This is where the THOROTREAD® comes in. This is a treadmill that goes both forwards and backwards but with a very important extra feature. In the backwards mode, you can unlock the grab bar in front of the console and pull it backwards to simulate dragging a weighted object. The pulling resistance connected to this bar is actual dead weight, not rubber bands, air cylinders, plastic rods or any of the other gimmicky mechanisms that have been used in the past for cheap resistance. The beauty of the THOROTREAD® weight resistance system is that you can change the amount of weight you are pulling while exercising with the push of a button located on the pulling handle. No need to stop or even slow down. It’s also a virtually frictionless system so it is glass smooth.
Only on the THOROTREAD® can you create the exercise of non-stop backwards dragging and control all the resistance variables. Not only does this have the obvious advantages over the outdoor method, but clinical testing is proving that this may be the most effective and efficient single exercise machine in existence. That meaning, you get all the strength benefits from pulling the weight combined with the cardio and fat burning benefits of a controlled duration exercise. You can even perform additional upper body exercises on this machine like bicep curls, tricep presses, shoulder pulls, lat rows and more.
Also, don’t forget it’s 2 exercise machines in 1. Simply relock the grab bar and press the forward walking button and the belt moves like a traditional treadmill with plenty of speed and forward uphill elevation for walking, jogging or running.
You truly get total body strength and cardio in one easy to use machine that’s no bigger than a regular treadmill.
