Following are the significant findings from a recent study:

  1. Peak VO2 occurred 30% faster than in traditional forward gate exercises.
    This is a calculation of blood oxygen levels and refers to the efficiency of the exercise. This is significant in that it suggests you get as much out of Resistance Retro Walking® in approximately 1/3 less time than forward gate exercises. Who doesn’t need to use their time more wisely?
     
  2. Participants started burning fat for their energy source much sooner into each exercise session and burned it significantly longer into each exercise session than with traditional forward gate exercises. When we exercise, our energy comes from 2 primary sources in the body; stored fat and stored glucose (carbohydrates stored as glycogen in the muscle tissue and liver). Obviously we want to burn as much fat as possible to maintain a lean and healthy body and we want to conserve glycogen to increase endurance.From this study it was concluded that training on the THOROTREAD® increases your aerobic capacity, which allows you to utilize fat as your energy source longer into any physical or athletic performance thus sparing glycogen for when you really need it. This will give us that second wind in the fourth quarter, that extra kick in the last couple of miles of a race, the added power that can give you the edge in any situation.
     
  3. The participants were tested at the beginning of the study for the amount of time required to reach their maximum heart rate. At the end of the initial 14 week study the participants were given the exact same test and the average time to achieve max was 5 ½ minutes longer. This suggest the participants had greatly increased their cardiovascular strength.
